Week 7, part 3

RoZ walks along the remaining portion of the Berlin Wall.

Some of the graffiti art left on the Berlin Wall from the Communist era.

Wednesday was our day to see Berlin. Our first stop was The Wall. When The Wall got torn down in 1989, a kilometer of it was left standing as a monument. We walked along this endless slab of flat grey concrete about 10 feet high and a foot thick with several layers of graffiti from the past 40 years. Near the end we came upon a few hundred meters of wall that was recently rebuilt as a "canvas" for dozens of murals expressing the joy of liberation in many different ways.

A hole punched into the Berlin Wall was patched by this steel barrier.
